Friends,

It's a miracle that we've been called into this grand adventure with Jesus. My life, your life, our lives are all living testimonies to the fact that God loves us. I want so many more people to know that love. God has been faithful for the last 65 years to have placed Moraga Valley, on the side of a hill, with a hope and hunger to see Him work in our community. I can't even imagine all that He will accomplish in the next 65 years.

With each new season, whether it be your marriage, parenting work, athletic endeavors, they require a new set of investments or adaptations. We can't go where we're called to go by doing the same thing we've always done. That's the same for your fitness, for your work, and for our community. We must make prayerful and strategic decisions now to help prepare us for the future that God has for Moraga Valley.

There is nothing more important for us to do than to double, even triple, down on the growth of our faith and life with Jesus. This is the first, and most important goal of our upcoming season as a community. Before we do anything, we must stay Rooted in Christ. He alone is our hope, and He alone is our anchor.

The second goal is renewing our commitment to be a church that is Reaching into our community with the love of the Father revealed in Christ. The wonderful 65 year history that we've enjoyed can also be an accidental invitation into inaction, forgetting that we serve a God who promised that He "is doing a new thing." (Is 43.19) We must return to the early vision of Moraga Valley, to be a church for our community, a hope and vision that was prayed into being over 65 years ago.

I have a friend who speaks about our community in one of the most uplifting ways. He says, "as goes Moraga Valley, so goes the Bay Area." I pray that God is using our church and community as a signpost of what He hopes to do throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
