LETTER FROM
MIKE

Many of us have a story of how Jesus used Church at Bergen in our discipleship journey. For some, it was a friend who took a step of courage and invited you. For others, it was a season of suffering that broke you only to find healing in Christ. Maybe you came when you felt lost and distant from God — or after being hurt by a previous church. Maybe a family member brought you. Maybe you just Googled “churches in Bergen County,” showed up one Sunday and never looked back. However your story wove its way into Jesus’ masterplan, one thing is clear: His work is not finished.

Will we join Him to see it continue for generations to come?

Imagine generations from now, men and women forgiven and freed from sin by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Broken families, torn marriages, and those tired of the false promises of this world walking into our doors for the first time and discovering the glorious grace of Christ crucified for them—all because of a foundation we laid today.

This is a vision worth sacrificing for—because it comes from the very mouth of Christ, spoken through the suffering of the cross. Psalm 22 prophesied:

“Posterity shall serve Him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation; they shall come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn, that He has done it.”

That last phrase — “He has done it” — was fulfilled when Jesus breathed His last and cried out, “It is finished.” Christ has done the work of redemption. And now, the reward of His suffering is this: that the next generation would proclaim the name of Jesus to another generation yet unborn.

God has already been writing this story through us. But now, He’s calling us to open our hearts, our hands, and our lives once again — to carry this gospel further, wider, and deeper for His glory. So our prayer — and our invitation — to everyone who calls Church at Bergen home is this: Live by faith in a bigger story. A story not just for you. Not just for your children or your grandchildren. But to the thousandth generation.

For Christ and for the generations,
Pastor Mike
